granted by the Medieval church, so that eople’s sins were forgiven in return for
money.
LUTHERANISM
A Protestant
religious movement that promoted a personal religion based on Reading the
Bible. It took its name from its first leader Martin Luther.

The support
given to artists by royal, aristocratic or religious patrons.

An artistic technique that gives an impression
of depth in a painting..
PLATERESQUE
An elaborate
type of decoration introduced during the Spanish Renaissance. In Spanish, this
style was called plateresco from the world for silversmith (platero).
PREDESTINATION
A Calvinist
belief that people are destined from birth to go either heaven or hell.
PROTESTANTISM

religious movements, like Luther.anism and Calvinism, that separated from the
Catholic church.

The
Renaissance in the 15 th century, when Florence was the leading centre of art
and learning.
